Dealing With A Narcissist – Biblically

The Bible tells you, if you’re dealing with a narcissist, there are three things you have to do. There are two things you shouldn’t do at all costs. And there’s one mindset you have to have if you’re going to walk in peace.

Three things you have to do

1. FORGIVE. The three things you have to do are #1 you have to forgive them. If you don’t start with forgiveness, God tells you he can’t forgive you and you can’t continue to move forward.

2. PUT UP BOUNDARIES. The second thing you have to do is you have to put up boundaries. And boundaries are not contingent on them — boundaries are contingent on you. It’s saying if you do this, this will be my response.

3. FLEE FROM THEM. And then the third thing it says to do is you need to flee from them. You should not be in close relationship with them.

Two things the Bible says to avoid

Now the two things it says to avoid.

1. DO NOT REPROVE THEM. The first thing is, it says do not reprove a scoffer or he will hate you.

2. DO NOT BE IN CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM. The second thing it says to do is it says do not be in close relationship with them. Why? Because bad company ruins good morals. So, you need to put up some distance.

One overarching mindset to have

1. GUARD YOUR HEART. And the one overarching mindset that says to have is, you’re supposed to guard your heart above all else.

Why? Because from it from flow springs of living water. So, to realize you have a lot to give that God has actually wired you up in a certain way and he’s calling you to guard your heart against these people, because they will cut you off at the legs, they will pollute your purity, and they will prevent you from walking in the Kingdom of God.
