The 5 Life Languages ® | The Need To BE POWERFUL

Some people seem to never be down, never get discouraged, and always seem to be in charge of their life. Despite us all having both positive and negative thoughts and moods, there is a way to make a steadier flow of positive energy and positive experiences in our lives.

First, we must recognize that we are giving away our power to be happy. Thoughts such as: “I’ll be happy when…” or “I can’t be in a good mood because someone around me is not in a good mood.”  or “I can’t be happy because life isn’t going the way I planned.”  We allow thoughts like these to hold us back.

When we take responsibility for our thoughts, feelings and behaviors we get our power back.

Not until we see that we are giving our peace and joy away will we begin to accept responsibility for our happiness. We do not need to depend on others to provide the right words or actions to cheer us up or to help us feel loved and fulfilled. We must learn to ask ourselves, “Does this decision come from my core beliefs as a child of God, or does it come from what others think of me or say about me?”

Don’t Let Other’s Define Who You Are.

As a child of God, we are all born with endless potential. The labels that people around u (society, religion, family, and even your own ego) are often what hold us back.  To be free is to embrace the truth of who we are in Christ, and the internal “power” that flows from that.

  • Personal power is based on strength, confidence, and competence that individuals gradually acquire. It is self-assertion, a natural, healthy striving for love, satisfaction, and meaning within each of our lives. It means breaking free from anything that holds us back and makes us feel powerless in our mind, our emotions, our decisions, or our actions.
  • Personal power is living our life with presence, purpose, and perseverance that we access only through the power of Jesus Christ in our hearts.
  • Personal power is about managing our boundaries, our critical voice, and unhelpful thoughts that often hold us back from God’s best. Personal power is trusting God to move us beyond our own self-limiting false beliefs.
  • Personal power means having a deep sense of empowerment in our own lives. It is inner strength and confidence that carries us forward through the toughest times. Personal power is a spiritual power!

We can strengthen our personal power through strengthening our relationship with Jesus Christ, and choosing to live in the power and confidence of His word.
